As many of you should know, there are many forgotten places in Runescape. Now, this could either mean it hasn't had a graphical update for years, sometimes it's never ever had new graphics, or, it simply has nothing to do their.
The other problem is cities and places simply not being large enough to bother about sometimes, or things which are plain weird.
The purpose of this entry is to encourage thought about what could be done to fix this, and to gather those ideas.
First, let's start off with Burthorpe, an important city in Asgarnia, yet, forgotten and left alone for many years.
Burthorpe was once the capital of Asgarnia, until the King feel ill. Now, seeing as it was the capital, you'd expect a big glourious city with massive walls and tall towers and elite guards... well.. I have a surprise for you. It is not at all grand, there are no walls apart from the castle, meaning an attack from the trolls would be devastating, and the castle wall is broken on the side where trolls would attack, although it does have scaffolding, but no workers trying to fix it, or no guards to protect it?! That is indeed mad! Not only that, the city has never had a lick of paint, making it really look dull, boring and useless.
Now, a grand city, bigger than Falador with massive walls and two massive gates guarding the entrances, with little rooms for the guards to make tea in, sleep and eat in while off duty (Or on duty for those lazy ones..) would certainly make it already better, the walls could be black stone. The castle would have a tall, thick, strong tower in each corner, each filled with important rooms.
Many houses would be added to keep all the occupants safe, similar style to Falador, but in black.
Each one would be a reasonable size and would include things for living, a double bed, a bathroom, another bedroom for a child, a downstairs with a kitchen and dining room, and a bookcase, possibly more, but those are required.
There would be a library and small museum inside the walls of Burthorpe, for it is the capital, it needs learning facilities, and then nearby there would be a school for the children to go to.
Another problem with Burthorpe is the fact that the only bank in Burthorpe (I'm not including the Warriors Guild as part of Burthorpe) which is in the Thieves den, not good for a Capital city, eh? There would be two banks, North and South.
Now, as for city attractions, what could there be?
Well, how about a minigame in the Barracks?
Or a good smithing point for making weapons and armour?
A few good shops, a general store would be good.
I'll leave this for you to decide.
Thank you for reading!
